Kok Hiang is awarded the IAS 2005 Award for Innovative Architecture. Held on 19 January in Beijing, China,
the award is administered independantly by a non-profit group International Architects' Salon. It is awarded
to emerging professionals who have shown and contributed significantly towards the advancement of either architectural,
urban or built environment in his/her country.

Forum Architect is awarded Best Project in the 'Public, Arts > Culture' category (Assyafaah Mosque) by the Architecture+
Awards 2004.
Master Jury citation: "A courageous design solution for one of the most traditional building types that has little
developed over the centuries. Convention is challanged and the resultant architecture materfully responds to the culture
and context".

Assyafaah Mosque at Venice Architecture Biennale September 2004
On 13 Aug, the Organisers of the Singapore Pavillion, Venice Architecture Biennale 2004 announced that
Assyafaah Mosque would be one of the 15 projects to be showcased in the Singapore Pavillion in Venice in
September 2004.

PAM Awards Masterjury
Kok Hiang accepted an invitation to be on the masterjury for the PAM Architectural Award 2004.
Judging will be in July and August.

PAM Lecture Color Bond Design Lecture Series Kuala Lumpur 26 June 2004
Kok Hiang was invited to give talk to Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) members in June 2004.
The talk centred on three aspects central of Forum's work: Ornamentation, Organic-ity and Transcendance.
Using slides from the recently completed Assyafaah Mosque in Singapore, Kok Hiang elaborated on aspects
of Transcendance which included Open-ness (breaking away from conditioned living), Attention (Quiet) and
Nature (Acceptance). These aspects were also th subject of a short twenty minute talk which Kok Hiang gave
at the Urban Redevelopment Authority 20 Under 45 Talks in April 2004, entitled Being, Building.
