Conservation and rehabilitation at 75 Maude Road celebrate a journey into time where humble shophouse quietly revealed its social, heritage and historical significance. The two-pronged approach of preserving and restoring the front shophouse while contrasting the new modern rear extension crafted a tactile and layered experience.
Rather than erasing time’s imprint, the design celebrated its layered history, transforming decay into a testament to resilience. A new extension features a sculptural light wall embedded with recycled collapsible gates and ventilation blocks—a tactile homage to the site’s industrial past. These bold contrasts create a dialogue between eras, ensuring the building’s stories endure while embracing its renewed purpose.
